Theme Parties

Using the former palaces of the Ottoman Empire, underground cisterns from the Byzantine era or the ballroom of your hotel, relive the magic of this period, from the colourful Sultan's tent to the vibrant market stalls. To enhance the atmosphere, traditional costumes are supplied to all guests prior to leaving their hotel. They are welcomed by Turkish musicians who lead them to the Sultan and his entourage. A welcome cocktail is served while guests mingle amongst the fascinating stalls of street vendors before continuing through the dinner. Depending on the venue, a buffet dinner would be available with guests seated either on low chairs at small bronze tables or using standard tables suitably decorated with candles and flowers. The night will continue with spellbinding succession of Turkish entertainment to include some of the top belly dancers of Istanbul, amazing folk dancers, gypsy musicians and dancers, all performing in front of the Sultan to qualify for an imperial reward. After dinner, a demonstration of some of the current traditions, such as the 'Henna Night', can be added. An excellent evening culminates in Ottoman soldiers with fire torches escorting guests back to their transport.

In an ancient and traditional 'hamam' (Turkish Bath) guests will have the opportunity to experience a real Turkish massage from trained masseurs. While relaxing on hot marble stone and enjoying a reviving drink they will be entertained by the sensous performance of a belly dancer and exciting Turkish music.

An evening cruise on the coasts of the Bosphorus is a memorable experience which should not be missed. Along the shores of the winding strait is a delightfully surprising mixture of the past and the present. Cruising along the illuminated coast, cocktails and small fishing villages. Live tzigan music is provided all the way through enriching the ambience. Extra items such as a typical shoe-shine boy, an ice cream seller or a fortune-teller with a rabbit can be included to add more fun to the journey. The Bosphorus cruise can be done during the day as well by slightly amending the programme.

The Grand covered Bazaar, a major tourist attraction, is a town on its own in the city with more than 4000 shops. The treasure hunt is played in teams of 6-10 competitors who receive maps, a list of questions, a clue to find the first shop, and enter the bazaar. From there on, they will find their way through this centuries-old labyrinth by finding new clues and earn points by answering the questions. The team which first arrives at designated final point is the winner and is rewarded a selection of attractive gifts.

Another theme party setting is the art-nouveau Pera Palas Hotel, the last stop of the Orient Express train and the place where Agatha Christie wrote her masterpiece 'Murder on the Orient Express'. Guests will be entertained with scenes from the cosmopolitan life of Istanbul's Pera (now Beyoglu) district during the early 1900s with the music, dances, and popular shows of the period.
